Dr. med. Lars Maurer awarded summa cum laude doctorate

Lars Maurer has been awarded the academic degree of Doctor of Medicine by Heidelberg University.

His doctoral thesis, “Vaccination strategy against hepatitis E virus based on adeno-associated viruses,” received the highest distinction of summa cum laude in the overall assessment.

With his work, Dr. med. Lars Maurer has made an important scientific contribution to the field of innovative vaccination strategies. The focus on adeno-associated viruses as a basis for new approaches against the hepatitis E virus underscores the high relevance of translational research at the interface of virology, immunology, and modern vector technology.

The award-winning dissertation is positioned within current research efforts to develop novel vaccine platforms and highlights the potential of vector-based technologies for future preventive strategies against viral infectious diseases.
